What is the Gospel?

“The Gospel is the glorious good news that God has invaded the darkness of this world with His Grace, apart from which, we would have no hope.”

All Sinned.

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" - Romans 3:23

We have fallen short of God’s standard of perfection and are by birth and action a sinner.

Result of Sin.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 6:23

The just penalty for sin is death, both physical and spiritual, and apart from Christ results in eternal separation from God.

Deliverance from Sin.

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." - Romans 5:8

The Lord Jesus Christ became the God-man, and lived a perfect sinless life. Christ accomplished our redemption through the shedding of His blood and sacrificial death on the cross. He physically arose from the grave three days later and conquered sin and death.

Salvation in Christ.

"He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." - John 3:18

If you repent, or in other words, change your mind and acknowledge to God that you are a sinner in need of His saving grace (rather than your own merit), you are at once freed from the punishment, the penalty, the power, and one day the very presence of sin; declared righteous, given eternal life, and adopted into the family of God forever.
